
In the
Central West region of New South Wales, Orange, prosperous city of flowers, golden autumns and apples, has much to offer the visitor of any age.
Its civic attractions include parks and gardens, cosmopolitan restaurants, theatres and cafes and a heritage walk that embraces some fine old historic buildings.
Beyond the city there are Lake and Mt Canobalas Parks to explore. The lake park embraces camping areas, a deer park, playground, picnic and BBQ reserve and trout to challenge the ardent angler. The mountain park is a 1500ha bird and animal sanctuary.
Orange also offers visitors a broad cultural base that includes the Civic Theatre, which presents both local and touring presentations of musicals, drama, dance, opera, concerts and comedy. Orange Regional Gallery stages regular exhibitions of local and imported art and its Mary Turner Collection includes works by Sidney Nolan, and Grace Cossingtown-Smith.
At Millthorpe, 22km southeast, you’ll find the Golden Memories Museum which boasts more than 5000 exhibits which include grandma's kitchen and a smithy.
