An elegant, upmarket suburb on Sydney’s lower north shore, just 6 kilometres from the CBD over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, or straight across the harbour from Circular Quay by ferry, Mosman presents some of the most spectacular harbour views you'll find from any quarter on this magnificent waterway. Most of its shoreline is part of the Sydney Harbour National Park which gives the public direct access to such beautiful inlets as Mosman Bay, Little Sirius Cove, Clifton Gardens and Athol Bay above which sits the world famous Taronga Park Zoo. The north-eastern corner of Mosman also looks over the North Shore's most popular harbour beach, Balmoral, which lies in the lee of Middle Head. Although its real estate is gilt-edged today, Mosman first developed as a farm, whaling station and artists’ camp. Much of its early history has been preserved in many fine examples of Federation architecture which still distinguishes its leafy streets. Mosman's natural beauty has inspired many artists over the years and such traditional greats as Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts, Margaret Preston and Lloyd Rees all succumbed to its charms. Contemporary Mosman artists include Ken Done, John Caldwell, Nancy Borlase, Peter Hickey, Judy Lane and Kerrie Lester.
