Surrounded by green pastures and the Budawang Ranges, Milton lies in the coastal hinterland of the NSW South Coast's Shoalhaven district. It was established in 1860 as a rural service centre for pastoral and timber industries. Today the town retains historic charm with its old buildings and National Trust historic houses.
Milton has a number of arts and crafts galleries, antique shops and cafes and is a popular stop-over before reaching the coastal resort town of
Ulladulla and
Mollymook.
It's also the starting point for the Pigeon House Mountain trail, so named by James Cook on his first sighting. The walk itself is fairly steep, particularly the last 200 metres which requires scaling several chains ladders to reach the summit for the breath-taking view.
Milton is located about 3 hours south of
Sydney along the Princes Highway.

Harry McLaren's Folk Museum - private collection of carriages, furniture, costumes, tools and books in Wolseley St.
Festivals - Scarecrow Festival in conjunction with Ulladulla's Blessing of the Fleet Festival (Easter), Settlers Fair (October Long Weekend)

Pigeon House Mountain walk - take the turn off 5 minutes south of Milton to get on to the access road to Pigeon House Mountain.
Shallow Crossing - for swimming and canoeing
Boyd Lookout - for a scenic lookout up and down the coast

Pointers Gap - 13 km north-west, with lookout over the coast
