What is a bulletin board?

Our bulletin board is a place where you can talk to other Travelmate users. You might want to ask a question, give advice, find kindred souls, or swap info and tips.

Who can use Trip Talk?

Everyone is welcome to use Trip Talk and you don't have to register. You do need to "sign" a message but can do so with an alias if you wish.

What kinds of things can I say?

Whatever you want. This is your space. However, messages with blatant racist, sexist or offensive content, personal attacks, personal details of other people or commercial advertising will be edited or culled. So will anything inviting criminal activity or litigation.

We do try to check all messages but if you find something you think we've missed, please let us know at service@travelmate.com.au

If you want to observe Netiquette (net etiquette), here are some tips:

  • Be polite. Don't write something you wouldn't like to receive yourself.
  • Don't give out personal information about yourself such as your home address, or phone number.
  • Don't forward or post a private message someone else has sent you.
  • Using ALL CAPS means you are really angry, so use with care.
  • Know the lingo: acronyms like ROTFL (Rolling On The Floor Laughing) and emoticons like :) are fun, though they are used more in chat rooms than bulletin boards. If you see one and are unsure of its meaning, try these links:

    - The Sharpened.net Glossary (for acronyms and emoticons)
    - A Brief 'Net Primer (for acronyms only)
